Walker McDonald has built a strong track record of successfully representing a number of Councils throughout Northern Ireland, advising on various issues including drafting of policies compliant with the Authority’s statutory obligations. To date, none of the Local Authorities represented, have been the subject of a successful application for Judicial Review in relation to any matter which Walker McDonald has been acting in respect of.
Our Local Government legal advice service is headed by Brian Walker who has solid experience in Local Government Law. He has acted on behalf of local government clients and provided legal advice at discussions with Central Government, at Public Inquiries, on planning law issues, equality issues and on environmental law issues. Brian Walker and Joseph McDonald have copious experience in bringing prosecutions on behalf of Local Councils on public health and by-law matters. In addition, Walker McDonald now employs a former Principal level Local Government Officer, with expertise in Local Government Land & Property matters.
Brian Walker has trained Councillors in relation to the Northern Ireland Code of Conduct for Councillors.
